First Post

Hello friends,
Welcome to my very first post.  I am Sara Snyder Mrs. Coatesville International 2011. I am competing in the Mrs. Pennsylvania International Pageant on March 26, 2011. A huge part of my excitement is if I am crowned Mrs. Pennsylvania  International  I will bring much needed attention to my platform Mommy’s Light. It is a fairly new organization founded in 1997 by Mary Murphy a single mother being treated for cervical cancer.  In preparing her 10 year old son Bryan for life without her, together they came up with the idea of him continuing their tradition of making butter cookies at Christmas. The idea of Mommy’s Light was born, Mary started Mommy’s Light 3 months before she died. My own mother passed away when I was 12 years old. Although I had a wonderful father who provided a loving home for my brother and I, communication about my mother was not encouraged. As an adult I found Mommy’s Light and I would have loved to have had this available to me growing up. In preparing for this pageant while I am out speaking about my platform and attending events for Mommy’s Light as Mrs. Coatesville International I have realized the positive attention I am bringing with this current title. I can only imagine what the title of Mrs. Pennsylvania International 2011 can bring to Mommy’s Light and the children! In recent weeks an event involving a schoolmate of my sons has made me realize even more, how much Mommy’s Light is needed.  Her mother suddenly passed away, in watching others reactions to this news I am immediately returned to a 12 year old girl who received very similar responses from both children and adults alike. I quickly realized in the past 31 years society’s expectations on how to approach and communicate with a child who has lost their mother has not changed a whole lot. Please follow and support my beloved Mommy’s Light and my quest for Mrs. Pennsylvania International 2011.
                                                                               Keep the memories alive!
